We are often asked if the testimonies that are posted at The Abraham Connection are "real" or fictitious. To protect the identify of the Muslim who has come out of Islam the names are pseudonym, however the stories are real and true. The reason for the fictitious names is that many who come out of Islam understand that under Sharia Law, the penality for leaving Islam is death for a Muslim man. For a women, it can be life imprisonment.

Even if these are not applicable in many countries, what is more common is that members of the family or community take matters into thier own hands and try and remove the shame and dishonor by taking the law into thier own hands.
